On 20 February 2012 it is 50 years since diplomatic relations were established between Romania and the Kingdom of Morocco.
The cooperation and friendship relations between Romania and Morocco have since been exceptional in quality, and in recent times have acquired higher valencies, given the status of the two countries in the region: Romania, a member of the European Union, and the Kingdom of Morocco – a privileged partner of the EU.
The scope of cooperation extended to various fields, from major construction or seaport development projects to other infrastructure projects, to tapping ores and hydrocarbons, to machine building, and to information technology.
An area that contributed substantially to the solidity of the Romanian-Moroccan bilateral relations, being based on human relations, is that of education and professional training – hundreds of Romanian teachers taught at Moroccan schools, and thousands of Moroccan young people have studied at universities in Romania.
To mark the anniversary, congratulatory messages were exchanged between the heads of state and the foreign ministers of the two countries.
Moreover, in 2012 several cultural and arts events are to be organized both in Romania and in Morocco.
